The Raja Saab out on OTT Today: Prabhas’ Horror-Comedy Finally Hits JioHotstar With a Surprise Extended Cut!
Today is Friday, February 06, 2026, and if you are in Delhi, Mumbai, or anywhere in India, there is only one name buzzing in the digital world: The Raja Saab.
After making a massive noise in theaters exactly four weeks ago, not for good reasons, the Rebel Star Prabhas is finally entering our living rooms. Are you ready for some “Darling” level entertainment with a spooky twist?
But wait, is this move to digital a celebration or a quick escape from the box office heat? Everyone is talking about the OTT release, but the real story is the final box office numbers that didn’t quite reach the sky-high expectations. The film, which hit the big screens on January 9, 2026, has officially transitioned to its digital home today.
According to The Economic Times, the digital streaming rights for this horror-comedy were acquired by the newly merged platform JioHotstar. As per a report, the deal is estimated to be worth a massive ₹80 crore, covering all major South Indian languages.

The Raja Saab OTT Deal Breakdown
Did you notice how fast the window between theaters and OTT is shrinking? Here is the rapid-fire logic and the numbers you need to know:
- Theatrical Release Date: January 9, 2026.
- OTT Release Date: February 6, 2026 (Exactly 4 weeks later).
- Streaming Platform: JioHotstar.
- Available Languages: Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. (Note: The Hindi version is currently missing from the initial lineup).
- The Big Surprise: An Extended Cut! This version includes a 4-minute sequence of Prabhas in an “older avatar” that was missing in theaters due to technical glitches.
- India Nett Collection: Approximately ₹146 crore.
- Worldwide Gross: ₹209 crore.
- Production Budget: A staggering ₹400 crore.
Why This Matters Now
Let’s look at the Real Scene. If you see these numbers, The Raja Saab looks like a hit for a normal hero, but for Prabhas, it is a mixed bag. When you spend ₹400 crore on a film, earning back only ₹146 crore nett in India is a huge risk. The film saw a massive opening day of over ₹50 crore, but the collections dropped faster than a horror jump-scare in the second and third weeks.
The OTT Strategy
So, why the rush to OTT? JioHotstar is seeing a “historic high” in traffic today. In fact, the platform had to upgrade its servers because so many people clicked the “Remind Me” button. This shows that while people didn’t want to spend ₹500 on a theater ticket after hearing mixed reviews, they are dying to watch it for free (or on their subscription) at home.
The inclusion of the Extended Cut is a smart marketing move. By adding scenes that fans felt were missing, the makers are giving people a reason to watch it again. It’s all about recovering that massive ₹400 crore budget through digital and satellite rights now.
Box Office vs. Stardom
Even though the film struggled to cross the ₹200 crore mark in India, Prabhas’ stardom remains untouched. The global numbers still show that his name alone can pull in over ₹200 crore even with “lukewarm” reviews. However, the film recovered only about 36% of its budget from theatrical runs alone, making the OTT deal the real savior for the producers.
Author’s Opinion
In my view, The Raja Saab is a classic case of “Hype vs. Reality.” Director Maruthi tried to bring back the fun, vintage Prabhas we loved in Darling, but the massive budget made it impossible for the film to be called a “Blockbuster” with these collections.
However, watching it on OTT is a different game. The horror-comedy genre works excellently on small screens for family viewing. If you missed the “Older Prabhas” look in the cinema, today is your day!
Fundamentally, the movie is a treat for fans, even if the box office math is a bit scary for the producers.

What do you think? Will the “Extended Cut” make the movie better, or was the theatrical version more than enough for you? Let me know in the comments!
