New Delhi, 26 November 2025: The countdown has officially begun. We are exactly 48 hours away from one of the most-awaited musical romantic dramas of the year. Aanand L. Rai is back with his favourite star Dhanush, and this time, Kriti Sanon joins the passionate world of their storytelling in Tere Ishk Mein.
Tere Ishk Mein Box Office
For the last few weeks, the buzz around the movie has been quite unique. It wasn’t loud or aggressive; it was soulful, much like A.R. Rahman’s music for the film. But as we sit here on this Wednesday evening, two days before the Friday release, the real question is—is the audience putting their money where their heart is? The advance booking data is finally out, and it tells a very interesting story about what we can expect on Day 1.

The Big Numbers: Where Does Tere Ishk Mein Stand 2 Days Before Release?
Let’s talk numbers straight away. As of Wednesday afternoon (November 26, 2025), Tere Ishk Mein has crossed a significant milestone. The film has collected approximately ₹1.15 Crore gross in advance booking for its opening day.
For a romantic drama that is not an action spectacle or a VFX-heavy event film, crossing the ₹1 Crore mark 48 hours before release is a respectable sign. It shows that the core fanbase—those who loved Raanjhanaa and Atrangi Re—are eager to watch the film on the very first day.
In terms of tickets sold, the movie has sold roughly 47,000 tickets across India. This number is crucial because it indicates genuine interest from the paying public, not just corporate bulk bookings. A large chunk of these sales, nearly 98%, is coming from the Hindi version. The Tamil version, despite Dhanush’s stardom, has seen a slower start with only about 500 tickets sold so far, but this is expected to pick up as we get closer to the release day in the southern markets.
National Chains vs. Mass Centers: The Divide
When we dig deeper into the data, we see a clear trend. Tere Ishk Mein is performing significantly better in national multiplex chains (PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis). The urban audience, which connects more with complex love stories and A.R. Rahman’s music, is driving the sales.
- National Chains: Approximately 17,000 tickets have been sold in the three major chains alone.
- Non-National & Single Screens: The remaining 30,000 tickets come from smaller multiplexes and single screens.
This divide is important. It tells us that the “class” audience is already on board. However, for a film to become a massive hit in India, it needs the “mass” audience in smaller towns to walk in. Currently, the advance booking in mass belts like UP, Bihar, and Rajasthan is decent but not explosive. These areas usually rely on “current booking” (people buying tickets at the window on Friday), so a slower advance here is not necessarily a danger sign, but it is something to watch out for.
Show Count Strategy: A Wide Release
The exhibitors seem to have a lot of confidence in the Dhanush and Kriti Sanon pairing. The movie has been allotted a solid showcase of around 5,200 shows across India. This is a wide release for a genre that usually gets restricted to 3,000-4,000 screens.
With 5,200 shows, the capacity is huge. Currently, the occupancy is on the lower side because the screen count is so high. This is a double-edged sword. If the word of mouth is good, there are enough seats to accommodate a massive crowd. But if the film receives mixed reports, empty theatres could look very glaring because of the high number of shows.

Music and Nostalgia: The Driving Forces
Why are people booking tickets? The data suggests two main factors are working in the film’s favor:
- The ‘Raanjhanaa’ Legacy: Fans still remember the magic created by Dhanush and Aanand L. Rai in 2013. The advance booking comments and social media chatter show that people are expecting a similar emotional rollercoaster. They are booking tickets, hoping to cry, laugh, and fall in love again.
- The Music Factor: A.R. Rahman’s album has peaked at the right time. Songs like the title track have become earworms. Usually, when music hits the right note, we see a spike in bookings from college students and young couples. The data reflects this, with evening shows on Friday seeing faster fills than morning shows.
What does this mean for Opening Day Collection?
So, what does this ₹1.15 Crore advance gross mean for the final Opening Day number?
Based on current trends, the advance booking usually contributes about 20-30% of the final Day 1 total for such films. If the momentum continues at this same speed for the next 48 hours, Tere Ishk Mein is looking at a ₹10 Crore to ₹12 Crore nett opening day in India.
If the film picks up pace dramatically on Thursday (the final day before release), it could even touch ₹15 Crore. However, if the bookings stall, it might open in the single digits (around ₹8-9 Crore). Currently, the safe bet is a double-digit opening, which would be a fantastic start for a romantic drama in the current market climate.
It is also worth noting that the film has barely any competition this Friday. It has a free run. This “solo release” advantage is why the show count is high and why the trade expects the numbers to jump once the first show reports come out.

“A Promising Start that Needs Word-of-Mouth Fuel”
At BoxOfficeWala, we believe Tere Ishk Mein is sitting in a comfortable position. The advance booking numbers are not record-breaking, but they are healthy. Selling 47,000 tickets 48 hours before release proves that the Dhanush-Aanand L. Rai combo still holds weightage.
However, the concern remains the mass centers. The film feels slightly urban-heavy at the moment. For Tere Ishk Mein to go from a ‘Hit’ to a ‘Blockbuster’, the single screens need to fire up on Friday afternoon. The music has done its job; now, the content needs to speak. If the love story connects, this film could be the surprise winter hit of 2025. But if the story gets too complex or dark, the high show count might backfire.
Our verdict: The platform is set for a double-digit opening. Now, it is all up to the content.
