Mumbai – Superstar Rajinikanth’s latest movie, “Coolie,” has completed 24 days in theaters. The film, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is holding its ground at the box office.
While the big-budget action film has seen a drop in daily collections, it continues to bring in money. We take a look at its box office performance, budget, and the highly-awaited OTT release date.
Coolie Box Office Collection Day 24
“Coolie” was released on August 14, 2025. It had a huge opening, which was expected for a Rajinikanth film. The movie earned a massive ₹65 crore on its first day. Its first week was a record-breaking success, with a total of ₹229.65 crore. But the collections have slowed down since.
On its 24th day, the film earned a total of ₹19 lakh from all languages.
The Hindi version collected ₹1 lakh, while the Tamil version brought in ₹13 lakh.
The Telugu and Kannada versions added ₹4 lakh and ₹1 lakh, respectively.
Coolie Box Office Collection Worldwide

These numbers are a big drop from its opening days. However, they show that the movie is still running in theaters. The total box office collection for “Coolie” in India is now a strong ₹284.24 crore.
The film is now just a few crores away from the ₹300 crore mark. It will be a big challenge to reach that milestone. The movie is facing new competition. Films like “The Bengal Files” and Hollywood’s “The Conjuring: The Last Rites” have hit the screens. These new releases are taking away some of the audience and screen space.
Coolie Budget and Production
“Coolie” was made with a huge budget. Reports say the budget was around ₹350 crore. This makes it one of the most expensive Indian films. A large part of this budget went to the star cast.
Rajinikanth alone reportedly took a fee of ₹150 crore, which was later increased. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj also got a hefty fee of ₹50 crore.
The film’s financial risk was low because of pre-release deals. The movie’s digital, satellite, and music rights were sold for a good price. The digital streaming rights were sold for ₹130 crore. The satellite rights brought in ₹90 crore. This means the movie had already recovered a large part of its cost even before its release.

Coolie OTT Release Update
For those who missed the film in theaters, there is good news. “Coolie” is all set for its digital premiere. The movie will be streaming on the platform Prime Video. The official release date is set for September 11, 2025.
The film will be available in multiple languages. It will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. The Hindi version, however, will have a different release plan. Since the film had a big release in the North, the Hindi version will stream eight weeks after its theatrical debut.
In the end, “Coolie” has had a successful run. It has earned a good amount of money. The upcoming OTT release will bring it to more homes. It has once again proven that Rajinikanth is a force to be reckoned with at the box office.
