Logic Check: The Biggest Plot Holes in Thamma (and Possible Fixes)
3 Big Plot Holes in Thamma and how they could have fixed it.
New Delhi, Saturday, 01 November 2025: The film Thamma has been a big Diwali hit. It is the latest from the famous Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. This movie gives us great visuals and fun moments. It also has strong performances from Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna.
However, like many fantasy movies, Thamma has some gaps in its story logic. These are known as “plot holes.” They can confuse the audience. Let’s look at the biggest story problems and how the writers could have fixed them.
Plot Holes in Thamma

1. The Betals’ Unclear Rules for Living
The movie tells us about the Betals. They are the vampire-like creatures. We are told they follow very strict rules. Their main rules are: they must never drink human blood (they think it is poisoned by human violence), and they must never fall in love with a human.
- The Plot Hole: If human blood is truly poisonous and causes pain, why does the villain, Yakshasan, want it so badly? And why does he want to use it for world domination? If the blood harms them, his plan makes no sense. The hero Alok, after turning, does not seem to suffer much. This makes the “poison” rule seem weak.
- A Possible Fix: The story could have shown Yakshasan’s followers suffering and weakening after drinking human blood. They could have shown that human blood gives a short burst of power, but then causes madness. This would make Yakshasanโs plan a true, dangerous obsession, not just a king’s order. It would make the threat feel much more real.
2. Tadakaโs Sudden Break of All Rules
Tadaka (played by Rashmika Mandanna) is a powerful Betal. She is the one who breaks all the rules to save Alok. She saves him from a bear attack. She brings him to her secret world. This starts the whole conflict.
- The Plot Hole: Tadakaโs decision to risk her entire society for a stranger feels sudden. She knows the severe punishment for breaking the rules. The movie does not spend enough time showing why she trusts Alok so quickly. It does not show enough of their deep connection forming. Their romance moves too fast.
- A Possible Fix: The director should have added a longer montage or quieter scenes. These scenes should have focused on small moments. They should show Alokโs genuine kindness and lack of greed. This would justify Tadaka’s feelings. It would show the audience why this human is different from all others. This way, her sacrifice would feel earned and deeply emotional.
3. The Villainโs Lack of Screen Time
Yakshasan (played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui) is the main villain. He is the original Thamma (Leader) who was locked away. He is supposed to be the biggest threat to both humans and Betals.
- The Plot Hole: For such a powerful threat, Yakshasan gets very little time in the movie. His main power is that he is locked up but can influence others. Yet, when he is finally free, his fight scene is over very quickly. His character needed more depth. We needed to see more of his terrifying power.
- A Possible Fix: The film could have given Yakshasan more scenes where he talks about his past. This would explain his anger and his evil plan better. The final fight should have been longer and more difficult. The victory for Alok and Tadaka should have felt harder to win. This would make the climax more satisfying for the audience.
Conclusion: A Universe Needs Strong Rules
Thamma is a visually beautiful movie. It successfully expands the horror-comedy world. But a fantasy universe needs strong, clear rules. When those rules are broken easily, the story loses its punch. Fixing these plot holes would have made the film perfect. We hope the next film in this series pays more attention to the small details of the story.
