The first half of the film is all about this road trip. It moves at a relaxed pace. The chemistry between Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu is the highlight. Vadivelu shows his talent for serious acting, moving away from his famous comedy roles. Fahadh Faasil, known for his grey characters, is excellent as the thief with a shifting heart. Their scenes together are full of small moments, humour, and a quiet sense of something big about to happen.
The film’s tone changes completely in the second half. A big twist at the interval reveals the real story. The film becomes a thriller. It deals with some serious social issues. This shift is where the movie gets both praise and criticism. Some people found the change in genre exciting. Others felt the second half was predictable and not as strong as the first. Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music is good and helps set the mood. The cinematography is also beautiful, showcasing the picturesque scenes of a road trip.
Overall, Marisaan is a unique film. It is not for those who like to watch action scenes right from the beginning. The film mainly rests on the two lead characters and their performances. Although the latter has some flaws, the excellent pairing of Fahadh Faisal and Vadivelu makes this film entertaining. If you like slow-paced dramas with strong performances and unpredictable storylines, Marisaan is a great choice to watch on Netflix this weekend.
