Bengaluru, October 8, 2025 – Famous pan-India actress Rashmika Mandanna has finally responded to the long-standing rumours about her being “banned” from the Kannada film industry, also known as Sandalwood. Her statement came during a recent media interaction while promoting her upcoming Bollywood project, Thamma.
Rashmika’s comments have brought much-needed clarity to the matter. She stated clearly that she has not been banned by Kannada producers. When a reporter directly asked about the ban rumours, the actress smiled and simply replied, “So far, I have not been banned. So, yeah…”
Clearing the Air on Kantara
The actress also addressed a past controversy that made many people from Karnataka unhappy. This was about the blockbuster Kannada movie, Kantara: Chapter 1, directed by Rishab Shetty.
Rishab Shetty is the same filmmaker who launched Rashmika’s career with the hit film Kirik Party in 2016.

Rashmika had faced public criticism for not giving a shout-out or acknowledging the film’s success. She explained the reason for this delay to the media.
“See, the thing is… I didn’t see the film in the first two or three days since its release,” she said. “I didn’t see it right then, but I recently watched it and even texted the team.” Rashmika confirmed that the team even replied to her message with a “Thank you” response.
The Reality Behind Public Perception
Rashmika Mandanna used this opportunity to talk about the difference between what people see and what is actually happening. She mentioned that the public often does not know the full story.
“See, the world doesn’t know what is happening on the inside,” she explained. “Inside, God knows we can’t always put a camera on our personal lives. Also, we aren’t those people who share our messages online.”
The star emphasized that it is important to separate personal life from professional work. She said that opinions about a person’s private life do not matter. However, she welcomes feedback and criticism about her professional work and is ready to improve.
Journey from Sandalwood to Pan-India Stardom
Rashmika Mandanna was born and brought up in Karnataka. She started her acting career with Kirik Party, which became a big success.
After this, she moved on to work in the Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi film industries. She has delivered massive hits like Pushpa and Animal, making her a popular name across India.
However, her shift to other industries, especially after her broken engagement with Kannada actor Rakshit Shetty, caused a lot of negative comments and trolling from some Kannada fans. Many people in the state felt that she had forgotten her roots.
Despite these challenges, Rashmika has successfully built a pan-India presence. She continues to work on diverse projects. Her next film, Thamma, a romantic horror comedy with Ayushmann Khurrana, is set to release during Diwali 2025.
In conclusion, the actress maintains a clear stance that she is open to working in the Kannada industry. Her focus remains on exciting scripts and good stories, regardless of the language.
