However, the second week has been a different story. The collections have slowed down. After the first week’s storm, the weekday numbers in the second week have dropped. The film’s earnings became single-digit on most days.
For example, on its second Monday, “Coolie” collected only around Rs. 3.25 crore. This was the lowest daily collection since its release.
Despite the drop, the film is still doing very well. It has already crossed Rs. 260 crore in India. The total collection after 14 days is around Rs. 269.8 crore net. It is now inching closer to the Rs. 300 crore mark. The film is also closer to the worldwide gross collection of the Rs. 500 crore mark. This will make “Coolie” Rajinikanth’s third film to achieve this milestone.
“Coolie” had a big box office clash with another major film, “War 2”. “War 2” stars Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR. Rajinikanth’s movie has managed to stay ahead of its rival. Even on the days when its collections were low, it still earned more than “War 2”.

Still, the superstar’s star power, along with the film’s strong cast, including Nagarjuna and Aamir Khan in a special role, has helped it become a big box office hit. The film has now beaten the domestic collection of “Ponniyin Selvan Part 1”. This is a big achievement. “Coolie” is now aiming to beat other big hits like “Leo” and “Jailer” in the coming days.
