After a slow first week, the film failed to gain momentum. The total box office collection is much lower than what was expected from a film by the director of “The Kashmir Files.”

The film, which stars Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, and Pallavi Joshi, had a lot of buzz before its release. However, this buzz did not turn into big box office numbers. The film had a decent first weekend. It collected around Rs 6.75 crore in its first three days. But from the first Monday itself, the collections began to drop heavily.

The Bengal Files Movie Budget and Collection

The total collection of The Bengal Files movie is ₹16.71 Crore net at the Indian box office, ₹19.81 Crore Gross, ₹3.25 Crore Overseas, with a worldwide collection of ₹23.06 Crore for 20 days. The Bengal Files film was made on a budget of ₹30 crores.

The Bengal Files – Reasons for Poor Performance

There are many reasons why “The Bengal Files” has not done well. A major reason is the mixed and negative reviews. The film’s story, which is based on historical events, was called “heavy-handed” and “unsubtle” by some critics. The film’s long runtime of over three hours was also seen as a problem.

The film faced problems even before its release. It did not get permission to be shown in the state of West Bengal. The film is about events in Bengal, so not releasing it there was a big blow. It lost a huge part of its main audience. This also affected its box office numbers.

The Bengal Files – Big Budget, Low Return

“The Bengal Files” was made with a high budget. It was expected to be a big hit like “The Kashmir Files.” But it has so far failed to even cross a total collection of Rs 20 crore in India. The film’s performance is much less than that of the first movie in the trilogy, “The Tashkent Files.” That movie had earned a total of around Rs 20 crore.

The film also faced strong competition from other new releases. After a few weeks, new films like “Jolly LLB 3” took over the screens. This left very little space for “The Bengal Files” in theaters. The number of shows for the film has been reduced a lot.

The film’s performance at the box office is a big lesson for filmmakers. It shows that just having a controversial topic is not enough. A film needs to connect with the audience to be a commercial success.

Even with a known cast and a big director, “The Bengal Files” could not make a mark. The film’s theatrical run is now almost over. It is now expected to be released on an OTT platform soon.
