They Call Him OG: The Grand Opening and Sudden Dip
They Call Him OG hit the screens on September 25, 2025. It was directed by Sujeeth. The film had a huge buzz before its release. Pawan Kalyan’s fan base gave it an unbelievable start. The film recorded one of the biggest opening collections of the year.

The movie earned a huge amount in its first week. The total collection for the first seven days was very strong. This strong start helped the film cross many big milestones early on. Makers even announced that the film had crossed the Rs 300 Cr mark worldwide in just 11 days. It became the highest-grossing Telugu film of 2025 at that time.
However, the momentum did not last. The daily collections started dropping sharply after the first week.

Collections in the Third Week
The third week has been particularly tough for the film. Compared to the first-week numbers, the collections have come down by a large percentage.
In the third week, the film struggled to maintain even Rs 1 Cr per day. For example, on Day 19 (Third Monday), the collection was around Rs 49 lakhs (net India). On Day 20, it fell further to an estimated Rs 49 lakhs.
The collection of Rs 0.38 Cr on Day 22 is part of this continuous drop. This figure shows that new audiences are no longer going to the theatres. The main business is mostly over now.
Total Box Office Report So Far
Despite the current low numbers, the movie is still considered a big earner overall. The excellent performance in the first week built a strong base.
The film has already crossed the Rs 190 Cr net mark in India. It is inching close to the Rs 200 Cr mark. Even if the final collections do not reach Rs 200 Cr in India, the film has delivered a big number for Pawan Kalyan.
The worldwide collections are also very high, mainly because of the strong overseas market performance. Pawan Kalyan’s star power drew huge crowds in countries like the USA during the opening days.
Why the Drop?
There are a few reasons for this sharp decline. First, the initial huge numbers were mostly from the massive fan following. Once the core fans watched the movie, collections were expected to come down.
Second, the reviews for the film were mixed. This meant that ‘word of mouth’ was not strong enough to attract general audiences for a long time. People who waited for reviews chose other movies instead.
Third, new releases in other languages also took up screen space. New Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada films have entered the market. This takes away a share of the audience.
Looking Ahead
The film has mostly completed its run in theatres. The daily numbers will continue to be very low. The final lifetime box office collection will depend on how long it can stay on a few screens.
The focus will now shift to its OTT release. Fans who missed it in theatres or want to re-watch it will wait for the digital premiere. The movie is a huge success based on its opening, but the sudden drop in the third week shows that steady performance is important for a long run at the box office. They Call Him OG is a blockbuster hit for Pawan Kalyan, but its long run was not as strong as its start.
