Ajay Devgn Charged 10X More Than Rakul? De De Pyaar De 2 Salaries Shock Fans!
De De Pyaar De 2 cast salaries revealed: Ajay Devgn earns ₹40 Cr, far more than R Madhavan and Rakul. Full fee list, budget & box office update.
Mumbai, 21 November 2025: The much-awaited sequel, De De Pyaar De 2, finally hit theaters on November 14, 2025. Fans are flocking to cinemas to watch the funny clash between Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan. The movie is receiving love for its humor and the fresh “father-in-law vs. son-in-law” battle. But apart from the box office numbers, there is one topic that is trending everywhere.
Everyone wants to know: How much did the stars charge for the movie?
We have dug deep into the reports to find out the estimated salaries of the star cast. You will be shocked to see the gap between the actors’ fees.
Ajay Devgn: The Heavy Lifter
Ajay Devgn is the heart and soul of this franchise. He plays Ashish Mehra, a man in his 50s who falls in love with a much younger girl. Ajay is known for delivering hits consistently, and his market value is huge.
According to DNA India, Ajay Devgn has charged a massive fee of ₹40 Crores for De De Pyaar De 2. This makes him the highest-paid actor in the film by a very large margin. His fee alone covers a big part of the film’s total budget. This is not surprising because Ajay Devgn brings a loyal audience to the theaters. His recent successes in the Drishyam franchise and Shaitaan have proved that he is a bankable superstar.
R Madhavan: The “Daddy” Cool
The biggest surprise package of De De Pyaar De 2 is R Madhavan. He enters the franchise as Ayesha’s (Rakul Preet Singh) father. His character is very important because the main conflict of the story is between him and Ajay Devgn.
Fans were eager to see Maddy and Ajay share the screen again after Shaitaan. As per a report by Asianet News, R Madhavan took home approximately ₹9 Crores for his role. While this is much less than Ajay’s, it is still a very strong amount. It shows his rising demand in Bollywood, especially after the success of his directorial Rocketry and his powerful villainous roles. His chemistry with Ajay Devgn is being called the highlight of the film.
Rakul Preet Singh: The Leading Lady
Rakul Preet Singh returns as Ayesha, the young woman who is the bridge between the two angry men. She has played this character with a lot of charm since the first part.
However, her fee is quite surprising when compared to the male leads. The Times of India reported that Rakul Preet Singh was paid around ₹4.5 Crores. This is almost 10 times less than what Ajay Devgn received. While this gap is common in the industry, many fans feel she deserves more for being the face of the franchise alongside Ajay.
Supporting Cast Salaries
A comedy movie is incomplete without its supporting actors. They add the real flavor to the scenes.
- Jaaved Jaaferi: He is back to tickle your funny bone. Reports suggest he charged between ₹2 to ₹3 Crores.
- Gautami Kapoor: She plays Rakul’s mother in the film. Her estimated fee is around ₹1 Crore.
The Story: Why the Clash is Costly
To understand why these actors are paid so much, we must look at what they bring to the table. The story of De De Pyaar De 2 flips the script. In the first part, Ashish (Ajay) had to convince his own family and ex-wife (Tabu) about his relationship.
In the sequel, the trouble moves to Ayesha’s family. Ashish travels to get approval from Ayesha’s parents. The twist? Ayesha’s father (Madhavan) is roughly the same age as Ashish. This leads to awkward and hilarious situations. The producers knew that for this “clash of egos” to work, they needed two strong actors who could stand toe-to-toe. This is why a large chunk of the budget went into securing Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan.
Box Office Performance So Far
The high salaries put pressure on the movie to perform well. The movie was released last week and has shown decent growth.
- Day 1 (Friday): ₹8.75 Crores
- Day 2 (Saturday): ₹12.25 Crores
- Day 3 (Sunday): ₹13.75 Crores
- Weekdays (Mon-Tue): Stable around ₹4-5 Crores.
As of yesterday (November 20), the film is nearing the ₹50 Crore mark at the domestic box office. It needs to hold strong for another week to be called a clean hit.
Opinion & Methodology
The Verdict: At BoxOfficeWala, we use the “Star-Value Ratio” to analyze if a film’s budget is well-spent.
Methodology
- Total Salary Cost: If we add up the fees (40 + 9 + 4.5 + 3 + 1), the talent cost alone is around ₹57.5 Crores.
- Production Cost: With a likely production and marketing budget of another ₹40-50 Crores, the total landing cost of the film is likely over ₹100 Crores.
- Risk Analysis: Ajay Devgn taking ₹40 Crores is a “High Risk, High Reward” strategy. For the producers (Luv Films & T-Series) to make a profit, the film needs to cross ₹120 Crores in theatrical business.
Our Take
The gap between Ajay Devgn (₹40 Cr) and R Madhavan (₹9 Cr) is huge, but it reflects the “opening day pull.” Ajay guarantees the first Friday numbers. However, the content (written by Luv Ranjan’s team) is what sustains the movie. Currently, the movie is performing well, but it is not a blockbuster yet. The high salary of the lead star means the profit margin for the producers will be thin unless the movie performs exceptionally well on OTT and Satellite rights later. We believe the film will eventually recover its costs, but the heavy star fees have definitely made the path to profit harder.
