Ram Charan Peddi Postponed: New Release Date and Sukumar Update
Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor’s Peddi Delayed Again: Why Sukumar is Supervising VFX for the 2026 Release
Something is cooking behind the scenes of Ram Charan’s Peddi. With the April 30 release in doubt, a legendary director just joined the fray.
Hyderabad is buzzing this Monday morning with news that isn’t exactly music to a Mega fan’s ears.
Ram Charan’s massive sports drama Peddi is likely skipping its April 30 release date.
The film was supposed to own the summer, but the latest whispers from the sets suggest the finish line has been moved.
It feels like a repeat of the Game Changer waiting game, but this time, there is a very specific reason for the hold-up. The footage is still being polished, and the team is not ready to gamble with an unfinished product.
The Sukumar Rescue Mission
This isn’t just about a simple delay anymore. The real story is that director Sukumar has reportedly been roped in to oversee the project.
While Buchi Babu Sana is the captain of the ship, Sukumar is now looking over the VFX and those high-octane action scenes. It makes sense because Buchi Babu was Sukumar’s former assistant, and they want this to be a global spectacle. The makers are expecting the final footage to reach them by April 26, which leaves almost zero time for a theatrical release just four days later.
The pressure is massive. After the global explosion of RRR, every move Ram Charan makes is under a microscope.
Peddi is a rural sports drama where Charan plays a rugged pehelwan or wrestler. We saw a glimpse of this intense avatar in the “Kusthi” teaser that dropped on his birthday. But building that world requires top-tier visual effects that aren’t quite there yet.
According to a fresh report by the Deccan Chronicle, industry insiders say a postponement is almost certain. The makers are now looking at a May or June release to capitalise on the holiday crowd without rushing the technical side.
Even the legendary AR Rahman is reportedly fine-tuning the score to match the new visual scale.
Is the “Sukumar School” of filmmaking becoming a bit too obsessed with perfection?
We saw this with Pushpa and Salaar, where dates kept shifting like sand. It makes you wonder if our directors are now more afraid of a “bad VFX” tweet than they are of a delayed release. Does a three-week delay actually help a movie, or does it just kill the organic hype built by the teaser?
A Timeline of Tensions
The journey of Peddi has been a literal roller coaster. It was originally supposed to hit screens on March 27 to celebrate Charan’s birthday. That didn’t happen.
Then April 30 became the new target. Just last week, on March 24, Charan even suffered a minor injury on set near his eye during a fight sequence. He got four stitches and was back on set within hours. That is pure dedication.
The film has already seen two major reshoots. These weren’t just small patches; they were meant to “enhance the overall impact” of the story. With Janhvi Kapoor playing a spirited village girl named Achiyamma, the chemistry and the rural vibe are the main selling points. Peddi is a huge ₹300 crore gamble.
Looking forward, this delay might actually be a blessing in disguise for the Tollywood box office. A June release puts some breathing room between Peddi and other big April releases like Chiru Odela Cinema.
If Sukumar’s involvement ensures the action looks as “savage” as the posters suggest, fans won’t mind the extra wait. The wait for the official confirmation continues, but for now, keep your summer plans flexible.
Look, I get it. Waiting is annoying.
But would you rather see a half-baked CG lion or a masterpiece? Charan is in his “legacy-building” phase. He can’t afford a technical glitch.
If Sukumar is checking the frames, you know the quality will be insane.
My bet?
We are looking at a mid-May release that will shatter records.
Buchi Babu knows he has a goldmine, and he’s just making sure the gold is polished.
