Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari Struggle Against South Juggernaut
The Dharma Productions film has been struggling right from the start. Its main problem is the massive competition from the Kannada film Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1. Both movies were released on the same day, October 2, 2025. Kantara has become a huge, unstoppable hit across India. It is dominating box office charts in multiple languages.

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari did have a decent opening day. It collected ₹9.25 crore. However, the collections dropped sharply after the holiday period ended. This slow trend continued in the second week.
SSKTK Second Week Numbers Fall
The second week saw the movie’s earnings continuously shrinking. After a first week total of around ₹41.1 crore, the second weekend brought in some moderate numbers. But the weekdays were very poor. On day 14 (Wednesday), the film had collected around ₹1 crore. Now, on day 15, the collection of ₹1 crore is one of its lowest single-day totals.

The total domestic net collection for the film, after 15 days, stands at approximately ₹55.1 crore. This figure is based on adding the Day 15 estimate to the collection reported till Day 14 (₹54.10 crore). For a movie starring major Bollywood stars like Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, this performance is very disappointing.
Why the Film is Facing Difficulties
There are two main reasons for the film’s poor performance.
Firstly, the monumental success of Kantara: Chapter 1 has taken away a large portion of the audience. Kantara is a pan-India movie. It was released in five languages. It offers a fresh, large-scale cinematic experience. It has been getting amazing reviews and strong word-of-mouth promotion. Many people are choosing to watch Kantara instead of the Bollywood romantic-comedy.
Secondly, the reviews and public reaction to Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari have been mixed. The word-of-mouth is not strong enough to attract new viewers. Even though the movie is directed by Shashank Khaitan, who has delivered hits with Varun Dhawan before (like Badrinath Ki Dulhania), it could not connect with the audience this time.
Future Outlook and Final Verdict
The film is now in its third week. The competition is still strong, with Kantara continuing its successful run. The low numbers on Day 15 suggest that the movie’s theatrical run is almost over. Trade analysts believe Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari will struggle to cross the ₹60 crore mark in its entire lifetime run.
For the stars, especially Varun Dhawan, this is a setback. This collection places the movie among his lowest-grossing films. For Janhvi Kapoor, the film has managed to cross the lifetime collections of some of her previous movies, like Param Sundari. However, the overall box office result is considered below expectations for the large production house backing the movie.
The film has to perform strongly in the coming days. But with such low daily collections, it seems unlikely. The movie will most likely end its run soon, making it a box office failure against the South Indian blockbuster.
